MINNESOTA TRIP | THE TACONITE PLANT
Rick's Great Uncle, George Meissner, worked for a New York engineering firm that was engaged, in the early 1960s, to design and manage a major expansion of this Taconite processing plant on the north shore of Lake Superior, not far from Duluth (Rick recalls that Uncle George visited his 5th grade class in 1965 to give a talk about Taconite, and what he and his firm did to expand the plant's processing capacity.) To learn more about the history of the Taconite processing plant, visit the Silver Bay, Minnesota website.
